According to some internal sources Japanese carmakers, the convertible version of the two-door coupe with four seats can be launched at the Geneva (Switzerland) in March / 2013. 

According to Autocar, the convertible version will use the electronic control system to fold the fabric hood. Type metal hardtop will not be used to limit the increase in weight.

Is considered an important product in the U.S. market, Toyota 86 convertibles seem to retain power 197 hp 2-liter engine. The suspension is understood to be "softer" than to be compatible with the lower body.

Toyota has not yet spoken on the above information, but technical director at Toyota sports car, Tetsuya Tada, who confirmed that a high-performance version of the 86 being made. It could be a hybrid version with a capacity of about 250 horsepower and is being developed in Japan, with the time of sale the market is expected in 2015.

The car that Tetsuya Tada mentioned will likely use a super capacitor instead of battery packs. This technology is currently too expensive to appear on a public road, but Toyota is working with electronics experts to find solutions, and Toyota 86 high-performance versions will not appear on the market if the price sell too high.
